I want to fit some red lens, but want the light to shine amber, for the indicators.
I have heard to do this is to use a bright green led or incandescent green bulb.........can anyone confirm?

Sorry for the delayed response! This sort of lensing doesn't actually work well with LEDs. Whereas with a bulb you tend to get the whole spectrum and chop it down with a coloured lens. With a led you get a very specific part of the spectrum so by adding a lens to chop out a section you can end up with very little light!
Interestingly even with white LEDs you can't often do this as rather than giving you a broad spectrum you have essentially a blue led with a red phosphor to make it look white.
Hope that helps!
