About the project:
The project idea came when i got my new case, Corsair Carbide 500R. I was thinking about what could be done to the case, and figured out that painting the white parts orange was a good idea. When that idea came to my head, other ideas also came. So i started this worklog to share my project with everyone! :)

The plan:
The plan is to get the case look something like this:
Image
The color will not be the exact same as this. This is just an illustration..

Other plans is to remove the mesh from the side panel and replace it with a smoked acrylic sheet. I am also going to sleeve every cable with orange sleeving. The hard drive bays and 5,25" baylocks is going to be painted orange, and maybe the gpu cooler.

I did also remove the mesh in the side panel. Since I am going to replace it with some acrylic i can just remove it now.

It was easy to remove the mesh. I just bended 13 of these and pushed it out:

with the mesh removed:

That was everything for todays update. Stay tuned.

Update 2

A few packages arrived two days ago.

It is from mdpc-x:

The content, 20m sleeve and 50 precut heat shrinks:

The sleeving looks nice:

The other packages was from mnpctech. The content was a few acrylic sheets:

Some other stuff in that package:

I did cut one of those acrylic sheets, but it did not go well. Standing outside in the dark is not a good idea when you are going to cut acrylic nicely... So i have to cut the other sheet to, but i need to get it right. Some tips to how i can do it right? :)

Thanks to all sponsors!

Awesome start! Can't believe I missed your post. I have spotted an unmodded xbox controller in your pics, that needs fixing asap. As for working with acrylic I think taking your time and marking out properly is a must. There are some good tips stickied in the Bit-tech modding section (if I remember correctly).

Thanks :)

Yes, there are som links there. Haven't looked at them yet. I think that beeing careful and do it slowly is the right thing to do, and not stand outside in the dark. I was cutting the acrylic at 10pm outside. It is pretty dark then. Maybe i will cut it tomorow or saturday. :)

I get like that, you want to do it there and then. I can be raining and dark and you decide to rest it on your knee in an attempt to finish. Knowing when to stop and wait for another day is as much as a skill in modding as anything else.

Looking very nice, makes me want to take apart my nice but rather sensible Themaltake case and do some colour work on it.
And i know exactly what you mean about carrying on, just wanting to finish that last little, tiny bit off even when your brain is screaming at you that its all going to go horribly wrong...........just one more cut.......

Today I have been mostly Nyaning.

Update 3

I tried to sleeve a little bit today. It's the first time ever I have tried sleeving. I am happy with the result, but I think it can be better if I do it more :)

Tried it on a molex to sata cable today. To remove the pins from the molex connector i used a small slot screwdriver, 0.6mm:
Image

For the shrinking of the heatshrinks I used a heat gun:

Don't want to touch this! :p
