Size difference vs ease of install.

Postby I_AM_L3G3ND_90 » Wed Mar 07, 2012 3:36 pm

Hi there guys,

Another brain picking, Is there a noticeable difference between 0603 and 0805 smd's? Also are they any easier to install?

The 0805s are a bit easier. Some customers do all their mods with 0805s.

Worth a try. If it saves you time it saves you money!

Haha That Horrible Moment when you drop your last 0603 led on the floor halfway through a job! Ahhhhh The Frustrating searching! I think we all have done that at least once... I may actually try 0805's sometime, probably for my SMD knightrider...(If it happens :P)

I'm not able to empathise so much dropping the last LED. I usually have a couple of spares! I've lost plenty to the carpet gods though! I've done a design for the knightrider in 0603 but I think it will be too small (as it's a one sided board).

I was Hoping it'd be fine but at least its not 3 Red lights! Thats even harder to fix!
Its torture, especially knowing you can't finish the project until its been sanded! xD
