Strange use of Spotlight kit (MR16)

Postby John T » Wed Aug 14, 2013 8:24 pm

Quite a while back I was hunting around for a lighting system to simulate afterburners on a model jet and found Pheonoptix, I found what looked to be the answer and ordered 2 MR16 kits and some yellow superflux LEDS.

Initial test was a bit disappointing as it was not as bright as had been hoped for so I got in touch and we worked out that as I only needed them to light for a short period the resistance could be dropped, 370ohms to 100ohms, whalla, perfect.

I was in touch again with phoenoptix regarding a RC switch to operate these units and Dan replied using saying things like "most impressive application" and "stroke of genius" (not words I used to hearing) so thought I would post on here for anyone else that may be interested.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so I will shutup for now.

base unit.

Fixed it in a round about fashion, just need to learn how to work a computer instead of farting about with a soldering iron.
