Well Worth A Watch!

Postby Almurray42 » Tue Mar 26, 2013 4:29 pm

Hi Guys,

Recently I have really been sucked into watching the EEV Blog on youtube, and it is really interesting some of the stuff that he comes out with, certainly worth a watch for all the electronics and engineering Gurus on here!

CHANNEL: http://www.youtube.com/user/EEVblog?feature=chcl

He gives some great suggestions for projects to do and new kit to buy so thought people might find it useful!

Hey Al, great shout. A real gem of a show, also the Amp Hour is a fav - which is another Dave Jones venture.

There are some great online shows around that show really well how to get the most out of MCU based devices, build simple but highly efficient and very cool circuits, explain in depth but without being boring about different electronic methods we use all the time but never really delve too far into the how it works part, how to build solutions that you would normally think would be complicated but all it needs is a couple of hours, some perf/proto board and a couple dozen cheap components that most of us already have, and so on...

I really like the Ben Heck show on E14, he does some amazing stuff and makes it real easy to follow and is really good at pointing out potential areas for problems and how to avoid them.

I have only started watching these Engineering/Electronics online programs the past few months but now watch a few a week.

The Maker movement is exploding in size at the moment with stuff that a year or two ago would cost a fortune and would be really difficult to get working without being a member of a Maker/Hacker Space or one of the few online community's that were in short supply then, is all now affordable, available on next day shipping, has 100's of how to's and schematics, projects and ideas and there is now 10 or so REALLY good support communities that people who are proficient in a subject will jump at the chance to help a newbie or someone who hasn't worked with that particular system/method/part before and generally all members no matter how big their knoledge will treat newbies and novices exactly the same and will spend alot of their time helping people out patiently (unless said person is taking the piss and asking stupid questions over and over and over and obviously way outside their ability no matter how much help they receive!).
Its fantastic being part of it!

Great Stuff.
