Mintyboost

Postby xanthic » Thu Jan 24, 2013 7:54 pm

I built the Adafruit Mintyboost kit today. Dead simple kit, just a handful of components to solder. Works a treat. The DC/DC converter gets pretty hot (90 C, I measured it), but according to the FAQ that's normal.

Ben - you should get the cases laser engraved!

I was looking at that the other day thinking it would make a nice breadboard power supply. Overkill I know as 2xAA battery holder will work just fine but looks better ;). How much charge are you getting from the 2 battery's? Or is it to early to tell
tis Better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all

I blame spelling errors and my writing skills or lack of...... On fred!!!!!! My blood clot (yes I really did name it lol)

I haven't tested any batteries to destruction yet. I might give that a try later. It puts out a smooth 5 volts until the batteries die. It's got me more interested in buck/boost circuits. There is a solar version too.
